A small, geographically constrained suburb in the Logan City local government area, Hillcrest is bounded by the interstate rail line and the Mt Lindesay highway and is a little over 30 minute drive south of the Brisbane CBD.

There is also a major bus interchange located at the shopping centre in Browns Plains.
